Chocolate?

Can I eat Chocolate?

Reading that chocolate is healthy the question is can diabetics eat it?

Research is continuing all the time, and experts have already found that chocolate is good for the heart, circulation and brain, and it has been suggested that it may be beneficial in such major health challenges as autism, obesity, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and even ageing in general. (Source: Telegraph)

Consumption of cocoa has been shown to reduce levels of “bad” cholesterol (LDL) and raise levels of “good” cholesterol, potentially lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Shakes?

This seems to be a symptom of the lowering of blood sugar and the body saying "i want to eat something sweet. "

Shakes are only one of the symptoms.  Sweating is another.  Tearful, low blood pressure due to the lack of caffeine. There are many more.

Just think of it. We have been feeding on high amounts of sweet things for years. Our blood sugar continued to be fed so much so that we arrived at the doctors seeking advice.  Now we are cutting out sugar along with sweet things and salt from our diet. Cutting back on coffee and drinking lots of water.
Now our system is crying out "give me something sweet, I need it now."  But we know that that is the last thing we must do is eat sweet. We must not give in. We have been addicted to sugar. Yes an addict.

Rye Bread
Bread consumption can often hinder the control of blood glucose in diabetics. Many types of bread are laden with carbohydrates and sugar causing blood glucose to rise. However, for those that refuse to surrender their daily bread, there are a few low carbohydrate breads that can contribute to fiber content in the diet and will not drastically raise blood glucose levels.

Eating Advice

#diabetes, #diabetes food, #diabetes what to eat,

Are you confused with what to eat and what not? Me too! There are so many websites with conflicting points of view. It seems that in the end the only ones you can trust are the various health authorities from which ever country you live.

One thing noticed is that foods made for diabetics are not wise to eat as they contain ingredients we cannot eat.

Drink plenty of water

#diabetes 2, #diabetes water, #diabetes drink water,

Being suddenly diagnosed as having diabetes makes a big change in life. What can I eat? What not? What changes must I make in lifestyle? Must I cut out chocolate?

Our bodies naturally need insulin and for whatever reason there becomes a defect and our pancreas does not produce enough insulin. Then our sugar levels rise which is very dangerous as we can get a stroke and heart attack. (More about insulin)
